Prof. Dr. Michael Fischer has been serving as the 2nd Conference Chair of the DPG since 17 September 2022. As chairman of the next but one conference, he is a member of the DPG Executive Committee and, as a specialist representative, is responsible for the organisation and management of the congress in Vienna in 2024. The handover of office to the next conference chairman will take place immediately after the end of the annual conference in Vienna in September 2024.
Prof. Fischer's research group at the Institute of Neuroscience at the University of Vienna investigates pain-inducing and pain-relieving mechanisms generated by primary afferent neurons. This includes all types of pain, but with particular expertise in (thermo)TRP ion channels.
