Sensory Systems, Pain, Cognition and Motor Skills

Derived from the former Special Interest Group Sensory Systems and Pain the expanded focus of our SIG covers transduction and transformation processes within the different sensory systems, propagation and processing in the different levels of the central nervous system, cognitive evaluation of that information as well as motor and vegetative reflexes and other correlates. Therefore, we are interested in the sensorimotor system as a whole and in cognitive processes especially generated by sensory input and in particular in the system physiological impact. According to these diverse topics we look forward to establish and support scientific communication between scientists from various disciplines using different techniques such as molecular biology methods, neuro  and electrophysiological techniques in vivo and in vitro, behavioral studies, psychophysics and psychological testing as well as (functional) brain imaging.
